TEAM

ONE DAY – ONE TEAM – ONE VISION

Our ONE DAY team is a diverse group of individuals with a shared passion for contributing their special skills and abilities and above all their time, always with a smile on their faces. Their dedication enables us to successfully handle all activities involved in the running of our organisation and the implementation of our projects, which involve a wide variety of tasks.

The challenge? Virtually all of the members of our ONE DAY team work on a voluntary basis. Finding people who are willing to make time to take action for people whom they have quite possibly never even met before on a long-term basis is indeed a challenge. Of course, it goes without saying that making such a commitment requires utter conviction.

We strongly believe that everyone has something to give. The main question is, how much time do you want to commit? We all have ‘real-life’ jobs in addition to our work for ONE DAY, and our professions are as multifaceted as the team itself! This is extremely beneficial as it means that most of our tasks are automatically handled by the right people: the marketing and e-commence experts take care of our social media, the controllers deal with the accounting and assessments, and anyone who has enough time and an empty car boot helps to pick up our charity items, delivers orders or helps out at an event.

To put it in a nutshell: we are a vibrant mix of crazy individuals who genuinely believe that we can change the world and are happy to contribute our strengths and skills so that the charity can progress towards this ultimate goal.

The book The Café on the Edge of the World asks us the question, “Why are you here?”. When I started One Day, it was like it was my answer to that question. I found something that makes perfect sense and that I enjoy doing too. I’m good at being creative, and I can use my creativity to help One Day. And what could be better than using my ability to connect with people and positively influence their lives? When it comes to my team, my thoughts are perfectly summed up by this quote: “What you want to ignite in others must first burn inside yourself.”

  • Maggie

Etwas zurückgeben, etwas wirklich sinnvolles tun, die Welt etwas besser machen, Herzen berühren, Kindern eine…

Humans have always had a primary instinct to help, but unfortunately, seeing this instinct in action is becoming increasingly uncommon in today’s world. One Day is a mission extremely close to the heart, and I am certain that our support is received by precisely those who need it the most. Although we can’t save the entire world, we can help to make plenty of people smile again. So let’s come together to make the world a slightly better place.

  • Anna

Integration Manager for the Town of Aschaffenburg, Trainer and Coach
It’s very important for me to provide a future for young people, especially women, who have experienced the very worst of trauma. We only have one life, and this is our only opportunity to make our dreams come true. But this isn’t something we can achieve on our own; people need a network and financial support. That’s why I am passionate about my commitment to One Day. I am fortunate enough to enjoy life here in Germany and want to pass on some of this luck to others.

    Why One Day?
“When you have more than you need, build a longer table, not a higher fence.”
One Day makes a difference in a wide variety of ways. What’s more, it makes sure that help is at hand precisely where it is needed. You can see this and feel it, and that’s why I’m part of the One Day team.

  • Jana

    HR marketing manager
I’m part of the team because I think it’s fantastic that there are people who want to make a difference. They give me the chance to work in an excellent group to make the world that little bit better.

  • Maria

    In-house key account manager
Why One Day? Because helping people is fun, even more so when you see that the help actually gets to the place where it is needed the most. I am delighted to be part of the One Day team, which puts its heart and soul into everything it does.

  • Chris

I’ve been involved in One Day right from the word go and handle areas such as the website and IT topics. Given that I know first-hand what it’s like to be dependent on assistance, I also know full well how hard it can be to accept help. It is nonetheless essential that dignity always plays a role, which is why I think that the One Day concept of helping people to help themselves is a really good and sensible opportunity to actually make the world a bit better.

  • Julia

    Flight attendant
I’m part of the One Day team because I have always had an affinity for Africa due to my aunt, who lived in Mali for 20 years. I am thankful for being born in Germany and personally think that it is more than necessary for us to help people who didn’t have such luck.
I like the transparency that runs throughout One Day and its team.

  • Kathrin

    Why One Day?
I found out about One Day on social media, and by the end of the first team meeting at the latest, it had completely impressed me: It’s a great project run by a great organisation with a great team!
I immediately knew that I wanted to help and become part of the One Day family!

  • Svenja

    Human resources employee
    Why One Day?
I’m a part of the One Day team because I believe that everyone can make a difference, for example by providing young girls with a safe place of refuge and children with access to education.

  • Jan

I’m involved in ONE DAY because I want to use my abilities to help a good cause. ONE DAY is a multifaceted organisation that is constantly developing and growing and has already achieved a great deal in a short space of time. Helping can be really easy, and I am proud to play my part in doing so.

  • Caro

    Intralogistics consultant
Why One Day? When a friend of a friend told me about One Day, I immediately became a sponsor with one of my colleagues. Given my background as an intralogistics consultant, I highly value being able to understand processes and have a transparent view of things. I therefore contacted Saskia and attended my first team meeting and have been helping wherever I can and to the best of my ability ever since. For me, supporting the organisation has confirmed the impact that we have and all that we achieve on location and made me very grateful for being a part of this mission.

  • Sebastian

It has always been important to me to realize potential, both individually and in the community, with a meaningful goal. It all started with a sponsorship, and after two trips to Sierra Leone, the project completely convinced me. To talk about values and to represent them is good, but to really live them requires great conviction. To walk this path together, as a team, through numerous ups and downs, is called a project of heart! Let us live these values together in order to improve the balance of chances in this world.

  • Julien

I decided to dedicate more time towards social causes several years ago but found it difficult to find the right project and, of course, the right team for me. After a spontaneous chat with Saskia, I knew that I had come to the right place. One Day gives me the chance to really make a difference and spark change!
I particularly like the fact that One Day is not a huge aid organisation, and as a result, members of its team can be directly involved in shaping projects, pursue their progress and immediately see the fruits of their labour!

  • Julian

    Why One Day?
Because the world isn’t equally fair – but there are people like Saskia who help to manipulate the scales of justice.

  • Natascha

I was actually looking for a new organisation to donate to. That’s when I came across One Day.
Now, three years after that first vernissage, I can definitely say that my heart belongs to One Day. Be it the many charity events, hundreds of Facebook posts or long nights spent tackling a multitude of urgent tasks, it was all worth it when I had the opportunity to get to know our team, our kids and our projects in Sierra Leone in person!
